Sie fixiert diese Energie zwischen Stofflichkeit, Mechanik und Virtualit\u00e4t. Sie verzichtet auf reale K\u00f6rper und ersetzt sie durch Schaufensterb\u00fcsten, an denen lange, sehr lange Ballkleider befestigt sind. Jede Personage ist mit einem Elektromotor gekoppelt, der rotiert. Erst gleitet die Stoffh\u00fclle gemessen hin, dann dreht sich der Motor immer schneller, der Stoff tanzt, springt, wirbelt, wirft ornamentale Falten hoch, bis er ekstatisch sich selbst jagt und hetzt. Mehrfach wurde an den ber\u00fchmten Aufsatz \u201e\u00dcber das Marionettentheater\u201c von Kleist erinnert, doch gerade im letzten Moment ungehemmter Mechanik, ohne das Ziel der Grazie laufen alle Bez\u00fcge ins Leere. Dagegen l\u00e4sst Neugebauers wirkungsvolles Ballet ohne Ballerina das Gespenstische schierer Draperien in der t\u00e4nzerischen, kinetischen Anmut untergehen. Die Akzeleration imagin\u00e4rer K\u00f6rper, ihre \u00e4u\u00dferste Freiheit wurde durch Abwesenheit erm\u00f6glicht, die sich in ein eigenes Leben katapultiert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>tour en l&#8217;air<\/strong>, 1998<br>7 red taffeta dresses, decorative busts, computer-controlled electric motors<br>280 x 700 x 1100 cm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ursula Neugebauer visibly realises physical energy without incorporating it as a body. She fixes this energy between materiality, mechanics and virtuality. She dispenses with real bodies and replaces them with mannequin busts to which long, very long ball gowns are attached. Each personage is coupled to an electric motor that rotates. First the fabric cover glides in a measured way, then the motor turns faster and faster, the fabric dances, jumps, whirls, throws up ornamental folds until it ecstatically chases and rushes itself. Kleist&#8217;s famous essay \u2018\u00dcber das Marionettentheater\u2019 (On Marionette Theatre) was recalled several times, but it is precisely in the last moment of uninhibited mechanics, without the goal of grace, that all references come to nothing. In contrast, Neugebauer&#8217;s effective ballet without a ballerina allows the ghostliness of sheer drapery to be submerged in the kinetic grace of dance.
