Alle in der Folge an ihn herangetragenen Ehrungen wie der Fields-Medaille sowie das Preisgeld des Clay Mathematics Institute schlug er aus. Perelman lebt zur\u00fcckgezogen mit seiner Mutter in einer Plattenbausiedlung in St. Petersburg und lehnt es ab, interviewt zu werden. Beeindruckt von seiner Selbstlosigkeit gegen\u00fcber Macht und Geld habe ich Grigori Perelman einen Brief geschrieben, der bis heute unbeantwortet blieb. Das Video besteht aus zwei Briefen. Einem, den ich an Perelman schrieb und abschickte, und einem anderen, in welchem ich an Stelle seiner antworte. Ein Dialog, so glaube ich, wie er h\u00e4tte stattfinden k\u00f6nnen. Der Text ist dem raren Filmmaterial der Paparazzi (Found Footage), welches \u00fcber Perelman im Netz existiert, unterlegt. In seiner nur an der Sache und nicht am Ruhm der Welt interessierten Haltung begegne ich dem Wissenschaftler als K\u00fcnstlerin und Seelenverwandte in der Teilhabe an einem Raum als Ort der Sch\u00f6nheit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>das gr\u00f6\u00dfte Gl\u00fcck, welches vorstellbar ist<\/strong>, 2010<br \/>\nLetter to Grigori Perelman<br \/>\nVideo 2 min<br \/>\nEditing: Mireia Guzman<br \/>\nText: Ursula Neugebauer<\/p>\n<p>I dedicated the video \u201cThe Greatest Happiness Imaginable\u201d to the mathematician Grigori Perelman, who succeeded in proving the century-old Poincar\u00e9 conjecture, simply publishing his solution on the Internet for everyone to see. Perelman declined all prizes subsequently awarded to him, for example the Fields Medal and the prize money associated with the Clay Mathematics Institute. Perelman leads a withdrawn life with his mother in a tower block in St.\u00a0Petersburg and refuses to give interviews. Impressed by his lack on interest in power and money, I wrote Grigori Perelman a letter that has so far gone unanswered. The video consists of two letters. One which I wrote and sent to Perelman and one in which I reply in his stead. A dialogue which I think might have taken place. The text accompanies the scant paparazzi film footage that exists of Perelman.
